The pancreas is a gland organ in the digestive and endocrine system of vertebrates. It is both an endocrine gland producing several important hormones, including insulin, glucagon, and somatostatin, as well as an exocrine gland, secreting pancreatic juice containing digestive enzymes that pass to the small intestine. These enzymes help in the further breakdown of the carbohydrates, protein, and fat in the chyme.

The pancreas amigurumi is a 9" knitted wool toy, and while it doesn't produce or secrete anything, but it looks gosh darn cute. Though it has both a bile duct and a veinous system, I recommend against using it in the place of an actual organ.

Critiques

:iconphyrbyrd:
This is very, very cute, although I would have had no idea what it was had you not said. I would have assumed it was some kind of vegetable - possibly a parsnip or some kind of squash, but then, I have never seen a pancreas.
The idea is incredibly original - I've seen a few plushy bodily organs done before, usually lungs and hearts, but the only pancreas I've ever come across was part of a knitted digestive system - it didn't have beady little eyes and it certainly wasn't cute.
I'm no knitting expert so I'm not sure how much weight my opinion has here - suffice to say your knitting is far, far better than mine and the construction of this thing seems to have very little to be desired.
So - yes. Very cute, very charming, very original - very well done.

I don't know the meaning of the word "surrender". I mean, I know it, I'm not dumb... just not in this context.

I'm a doctor, not an escalator.

XD That's awesome!

On a slightly related note I once found stuff toys at a store shaped like microbes, like egg cell, kissing disease, AIDS, and blood cells.

Dude, you totally rocked the pancreas... I just need to remember wtf it actually does again. Holy fuck I'm awake and it's 8am. Holy living fuck.

... I thought it was snowing and it's actually just a gnat cloud. *shivers*

Okay... real comments. For some reason I REALLY like where you placed the eyes... I mean, I'm sure that's the way it lays in the body, but it just looks nice... kind of off center. I love that you've been making so many you-nerdy amigurumis lately!!!!
